CASE STUDY: Foreign Direct Investment #2

  • The Client

This project was conducted for Invest in Germany, the Federal Government FDI agency representing the investment interests of cities and states throughout Germany.

  • The Objectives

Among its many promotional activities, Invest in Germany collaborates on a yearly FDI promotional tour by the German Centers of Excellence – a group of 11 economic development agencies in the leading German cities. A U.S. based FDI consulting partner was required to manage the development, promotion and logistics of the 2006 North American conference and promotional tour. The cities of Austin, Texas and Toronto, Ontario were chosen as the locations for the 2006 events.

  • The Process

Having been retained by Invest in Germany, Pan Atlantic SMS Group developed local partnerships, prospecting lists, brochures (print and email), venue coordination and executed all of the logistics for the FDI promotional events. Our in-depth understanding of the FDI process allowed us to provide an additional level of consulting and support to the client.

An executive breakfast briefing and evening business reception were held in each city. These events were designed to build contacts and to foster the development of investment prospects from the U.S. and Canadian ICT sectors. Pan Atlantic SMS Group provided onsite support and follow-up with prospective investors.

  • The Outcome

A significant number of prospects from the ICT sector attended the four FDI promotional events. The events were widely viewed to be a success by our client and prospective investor company attendees. FDI development with qualified prospects is ongoing.
